SNOW ANGELS

posted Nov 20, 2016, 4:49 PM by Crestwood Community League Secretary

We are excited to announce that Crestwood Community is one of 27 communities around Edmonton participating in the Snow Angels program. Keeping our sidewalks free of snow and ice is critical in keeping citizens moving safely. But shoveling can be difficult, and even dangerous, for many citizens -- especially those with limited mobility or certain health conditions. We are encouraging Crestwood residents to become Snow Angels and make a difference in their community by shoveling and scraping their own sidewalks, and by lending a hand to neighbours who need help with their walks. We will recognize neighbourhood Snow Angels with a yard sign that shows they do their part to support safety and mobility in the community, Snow Angels will be eligible to win a Boston Pizza party and 1 of 10 pairs of Edmonton Oil Kings tickets. To recognize a Snow Angel, please contact Ryan and/or Taylor  at snowangels@crestwood.ab.ca

Community Sandbox Update

posted Oct 29, 2016, 3:19 PM by Crestwood Community League Secretary

Community Sandbox Update (for icy sidewalks)

Last year, when the City was looking for efficiencies to reduce costs, the Community Sandboxes program was identified as a potential reduction.

This decision was approved as part of the budget process in 2015 and will save approximately $300,000 in taxpayer dollars annually.

Instead of offering free sand for the public at community centres across the city, sand will now be provided at the five Roadway Maintenance yards.

By putting them in front of the yards, the resources to fill them will be minimal.

Crestwood will submit a request to have the sandbox returned to Crestwood  Hall and we will have to stock it ourselves.

Should you wish to voice your concerns with this change you can reach out to 311.

In the meantime, sand is available in front of the entrance of:

· Northwest: 14320 - 114 Avenue
